Grandma's Frozen Fruit Salad

A perfect make-ahead fruit salad for holiday gatherings or as a summer treat !

This is an old-style fruit salad that is very refreshing during the hot summer months. My grandma used to make it when I was young and our whole family loved it. This salad has an unusual ingredient that gives a touch of savory to balance out the sweet. The trick to the perfect icy texture is to let it soften up a bit before serving.

Grandma's Frozen Fruit Salad Recipe:

1 large can fruit cocktail, drained
1 banana, cut into chunks
other fruits, as desired (grapes, pineapple, strawberries, mango...)
2 c. Miracle Whip Salad Dressing
1/2 pint whipping cream (or whipped topping)
1/4 c. sugar
pecans, optional

Method:

Whip cream until very stiff. Add sugar and miracle whip. Mix until blended.
Fold in fruit and mix well.
Transfer into a 8-inch pan and cover with foil.
Freeze until solid.
Remove from freezer 15 minutes before cutting into squares.

Enjoy,

Leila
